Implement sustainable flood management via restoration of a more natural flooding regime and delivery of the Findhorn, Nairn and Speyside Local Flood Risk Management Plan.
Significant achievements against objective (2017 - 2022):
- Hydraulic modelling of the Gynack Burn, Kingussie to better understand the flow mechanisms of the watercourse and impact on flooding.
- Flood study for the Aviemore has been delayed.
- Flood study for Dalfaber Road, Aviemore is no longer deemed a priority.
FM 2 - Natural Flood Management
Objective:
Develop appropriate NFM sites to contribute to spate flow management and thereby reduce downstream impacts to infrastructure.
Significant achievements against objective (2017 - 2022):
- SCI delivered flood plain re-connection/storage project at Delliefure 2021 supported by SFB and CNPA. Floodplain restoration programme for Insh Marshes developed for delivery 2022 on (RSPB) including 5 NFM projects. eg embankment removal to reconnect the river and floodplain, blocking of ditch system, monitoring in place.

- SCI/SFB - Delagyle backwater re-connected (SCI/SFB).
- Riparian planting in Avon catchment (TGLP), Truim, Calder, Kinchurdy will slow run-off rates.
